How U.S. Bank & Submittable Prevented $2.2M+ in Fraud for One State’s Relief Program

Over the course of 45 days, Submittable and U.S. Bank processed over 1.2 million applications and disbursed $500 million for one state’s COVID frontline workers relief program. With a tight timeline overseen by the governor, the program was high-stakes, fast-paced, and a true showcase of the state’s strong partnerships.

The state worked with Submittable to create a multilingual application portal that automatically verified and filtered applicants by the state’s criteria. At its peak, this automated system processed over 40 applications per second. U.S. Bank and Submittable then disbursed payments, with 97% of recipients receiving funds within three business days. 

Together, our efforts prevented at least $2.2 million in fraud and earned the 2023 Banking Tech Award for Best Bank & Fintech Partnership. The result was a smooth, secure, award-winning relief program that delivered for those who needed it most: frontline workers.
