Submittable has the features, reliability, and intuitive design modern CSR teams need to run great giving, volunteering, and community investment programs.
Deed claims to be intuitive. But, when you look at reviews for people who have to work within its software–admins setting up events, running reports, and more–it’s not as intuitive as Submittable. Reviews on Capterra show that Admins have:
Had to request features within Deed that come standard in other tools.1
Found Deed’s admin dashboard “overwhelming.”2
Encountered “a decent amount of bugs/errors” when trying to customize their programs.3
All of these comments are summarized in the ease of use score, where Submittable beats Deed by half a point. Submittable provides more complete features alongside a great employee and admin user experience.
Submittable has everything you need to run any type of CSR program, whether it’s a massive GivingTuesday campaign or a virtual skills-based volunteering event. Even more so now since Submittable has joined forces with WizeHive, Bright Funds, and WeHero.

Deed does seem to have a good employee experience. The problem is, that’s the prerequisite for a good CSR platform.
Great CSR platforms should provide administrators with an intuitive experience, too, with all the tools and features they need in one place.
When you visit their website, you see where Deed skimps on the admin experience. Their grants page states, for example, that you can “export submissions when it’s time to make a decision.”
Which makes it sound like one of the most important parts of the grantmaking process happens outside of Deed.
Submittable gives employees a great experience and gives you the ability to run the entire lifecycle of all your CSR programs (including grant decision-making) within the software you purchased, not in scattered email threads or endless spreadsheets.
